| Shell at Dawson Creek: Minimizing our need to use fresh water for hydraulic fracturing Sep 7th 2012, 15:06 | Shell is now using the City of Dawson Creek's wastewater to supplement our recycled water for drilling and hydraulic fracturing operations in our Groundbirch natural gas fields. The facility treats a volume of municipal wastewater that was alternatively released into the Dawson Creek to a standard suitable for industrial and municipal uses. The Dawson Creek Reclaimed Water Project is an example of how Shell is helping to face that challenge by working with the community. The facility, process and associated infrastructure will virtually eliminate our need to draw on local fresh water sources for the operation of our Groundbirch natural gas venture.
